We had a wonderful time at Trader Scott’s!! The cottage is beautiful and the set up is perfect when you have family that can stay downstairs while not disturbing them if we are still awake upstairs! Jean was a huge help with any request that I had and a pleasure to deal with. I love this cottage and we really hope to keep renting it every year!!

​Our stay at ‘Emanuel’ was an absolute dream and a perfect retreat from our everyday lives. From the moment we arrived, our hosts, Char and Duck, made us feel like part of their extended family. Their warmth, helpfulness, and accommodating nature were truly exceptional. ​The apartment itself is a lovely, comfortable, and cozy haven. We were so impressed by the thoughtful touches, from the charming decorations to the nice candies that welcomed us. It was the perfect base for our adventures. ​The location is ideal for anyone looking to explore the breathtaking beauty of the region. We had the freedom to bike and were just a short distance from Empire, the fabulous M-22 scenic byway, and the magnificent trails, beaches, and dunes of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. ​A special and heartfelt thank you goes to their daughter, Gayle. She was incredibly gracious and giving with her time, watching over our two Australian Shepherds, Oakley and Rocky, who can be a handful! She walked them on the beautiful, nearly 5-acre property, which gave us such peace of mind to explore. ​We are so grateful to Char, Duck, and Gayle for sharing their incredible home and property with us. It was more than just a place to stay; it was a home away from home where we felt genuinely cared for. We cannot recommend this wonderful retreat highly enough!

We loved our stay here (5 adults) and would book again. The location was perfect with a beautiful lake view and made a great base for exploring Elk Rapids, Traverse City and Torch Lake. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. The property manager was friendly and responsive when we had questions.

This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed at Life Aquatic and everything was great once again. As pet owners we like that the yard is completely fenced with a gate at the end of the driveway. We did get to see some beautiful fall colors until the rain came. We may be back again for another vacation in the Alpena area.

We rented the property for a company business retreat and it worked really great for the retreat! Employees were very happy with the accommodations!

This is our second time staying a Birch Cove and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is comfortable, and the property is so very pretty. We had everything we needed and more. We hope to stay again in May 2026.

The home was so clean, lovely and well equipped. All the prep items you need in the kitchen and space to do it. We especially enjoyed the fire pit, beautiful starlite night. Great location at CM. Living room was really cozy. Beds comfy. Very clean. Thank you for having us.

This is our new favorite Lake Michigan place to rest and restore from a very hectic life. Our family enjoyed every view and the convenience of walking downtown to see a movie, eat, and even go to an art gallery.
