We absolutely enjoyed our time staying at the Green Laker this year. It was perfect for the 2 of us; we loved hanging on the porch, kayaking, and especially appreciate the warm fire on chilly nights. The quiet, fresh air and clear water was just what we needed for R&R. The cabin was scrupulously clean, which I very much appreciated. Two suggestions: 1. the springs on the bed in the birdhouse bedroom are very squeaky – so every little adjustment/movement in bed was a concert of squeaks. 2. there wasn’t enough toilet paper for the week. we had no problem buying some, and knew what to get that was septic safe, but perhaps not all people staying there would know.

​Our stay at ‘Emanuel’ was an absolute dream and a perfect retreat from our everyday lives. From the moment we arrived, our hosts, Char and Duck, made us feel like part of their extended family. Their warmth, helpfulness, and accommodating nature were truly exceptional. ​The apartment itself is a lovely, comfortable, and cozy haven. We were so impressed by the thoughtful touches, from the charming decorations to the nice candies that welcomed us. It was the perfect base for our adventures. ​The location is ideal for anyone looking to explore the breathtaking beauty of the region. We had the freedom to bike and were just a short distance from Empire, the fabulous M-22 scenic byway, and the magnificent trails, beaches, and dunes of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. ​A special and heartfelt thank you goes to their daughter, Gayle. She was incredibly gracious and giving with her time, watching over our two Australian Shepherds, Oakley and Rocky, who can be a handful! She walked them on the beautiful, nearly 5-acre property, which gave us such peace of mind to explore. ​We are so grateful to Char, Duck, and Gayle for sharing their incredible home and property with us. It was more than just a place to stay; it was a home away from home where we felt genuinely cared for. We cannot recommend this wonderful retreat highly enough!

Great Lakes Getaway may be the perfect home! The house is beautiful, well appointed and has plenty of space- and I don’t think the location could be more perfect! From the spectacular views of the lake to the short walk to Main Street- it was exactly as described and more! We can’t wait to return! Jean was fantastic to work with as well!

Very nice upgrades since we stayed here last., much easier to care for. Short walk to downtown. Especially enjoyed the art show/sale. Loved the peaceful calm and slower pace.

We loved our stay in this cottage overlooking Crystal Lake. The view was phenomenal, the accomodations were comfortable, and the response of the host was on point. We definitely will visit this place again!

Paul was very welcoming and helpful, and made us feel at home. The cabin was cozy and warm. We enjoyed our stay!

Cottage is very cute. Dock is a little wonky but it is a nice lake. Bring chairs to sit in outdoors. Bring drinking water because the water tastes and smells like sulphur. Take a good shower before you come because the water smells like sulphur…to the point where you gag. And it doesn’t feel like you’re clean after you take a shower. Other than that, the beds were comfy (although no door or curtain even on one of the bedrooms) and there were a lot of nice touches throughout the cottage that made it a pleasant stay. Also if you plan to watch any tv bring your Roku stick or whatever streaming service you have because the cable is very limited. Every channel we turned to at night when we wanted to watch before we went to bed said it was “unavailable” with their subscription. There IS an HDMI port on the TV to put your Roku, Fire TV, etc into if you so choose. Would rent again even knowing these things. Just be prepared is all!
