Space
THE SPACE:
The home has a very cute and traditional woodsy styling throughout the home. It's a great example of northern Michigan style!
Neighborhood
The neighborhood consists primarily of homes on and near Bear Lake. Most of the homes are second homes / vacation homes, but some of them are occupied year-round, mostly by retirees. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful.
There is a restaurant on M72 less than 2 miles from the home. There is also a Marathon gas station, a Dollar General, and a church (Bear Lake Christian Church) on M72 less than 2 miles from the home.
Downtown Kalkaska is about a 15-minute drive west from the home. Downtown Grayling is about a 20-minute drive to the east from the chalet. We would highly recommend downtown Grayling as it has a cute downtown with some good restaurants, a very nice microbrewery (Paddle Hard Brewing Company), several cute shops, a historic movie theater (The Rialto Theater), and the Au Sable River winds through the downtown area and there is a nice park on the river.
The general area is famous for snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, riding ORVs, and exploring nature. There are excellent snowmobiling, ORV, and hiking trails nearby. The Bear Lake Hideaway truly provides for a wonderful family, group, or couples getaway in the natural beauty of northern Michigan!
Transit
TRANSIT:
It is highly recommended that guests have their own vehicle.
